Saturated fats and trans fats (hydrogenated oils, those found in margarine) posses the tendency to conglomerate (clump together), thickening the blood, causing a rise in blood pressure and increasing the work load of the heart.  This sticking ability exaggerates the buildup of atherosclerotic plaque on arterial walls. When this happens the heart muscle does not receive proper oxygen, thus causing angina, pectoris and possible heart attack. To complicate this problem, refined fats and oils such as trans fatty acids, have been known to increase the harmful cholesterol (LDL), while decreasing the beneficial cholesterol (HDL), and increasing triglycerides.  Scientific studies have also shown normalization of blood lipids (fats) in individuals when supplemented with Omega-3 fatty acids (Flax seed oil, or Salmon Oil), decreases harmful LDL and increases favorable HDL and reduces triglyceride levels.

Population studies have shown that people who consume a diet rich in Omega-3 oils from either fish or vegetable sources have a significantly reduced risk of developing heart disease. Individuals with the lowest degree of coronary artery disease had the highest concentration of Omega-3 oils.

Flaxseed oil contains a phytonutrient called lignan, that once ingested is converted to compounds that compete with estrogen receptors.  The net result is a flushing of excess estrogen (linked to high incidence of colon and breast cancer) from the body.  ALL women should take High Lignan Flax Seed Oil on a daily basis as one of the easiest breast cancer preventatives they could do at little expense.

Everybody needs calcium to keep his/her body in optimum health.  Calcium is involved in almost every biological function to include providing electrical energy for the heart to beat and for all muscle movement, cell nutrition, DNA replication (body repair), and pH control.  The most important contribution of calcium to human health is pH control. Calcium quickly neutralizes the oxygen robbing acid in the body fluids.  More calcium means more oxygen and greater health benefits. Bones and teeth contain most of the body’s calcium, the mineral is essential for all cells. Calcium deficiency is linked to osteomalacia  (bone softening), high blood pressure, osteoporosis and colon cancer.

A large population based study by researchers at Stanford University, California, has calculated that 60% of Americans do not consume adequate amounts of calcium— even though 48% of the study group took supplements.  Low calcium intake  will double the risk of developing osteoporosis.

Depression has grown to more than 1.5 million people who are being treated for it, and 30 million more can expect to suffer from it sometime in their lives.  Women seem more susceptible to depression than men, perhaps because women are more “emotional” or perhaps the female hormone connection.  However men become depressed in large numbers also, just for different underlying reason.

What is Depression?  Symptoms of Depression include Fatigue, headaches, loss of interest in pleasurable things, weight loss or weight gain, lethargy, heart palpitations and inability to concentrate, persistent sad or empty feeling, difficulty sleeping, insomnia, feeling of helplessness, hopelessness or worthlessness, feelings of guilt, obvious mental and physical sluggishness and thoughts of suicide.
